This work began with two steel bars 3/4" X 3/4" X 1.1". The bars were milled to length. They were then oriented in the "low vee bar" and carefully clamped at each corner.
It is no longer clear what the "low vee bar" refers to.
The Vee groove was cut slowly with a 3/8" end mill. After placing the resulting vee bar upside-down in the vise a relief groove was cut parallel to the vee groove to a depth of 0.050".
First relief was cut with a dull end mill. Switching to a sharp one and using cutting fluid allowed removing 0.010-0.015" per pass with minimal chatter.
